I believe in constantly pushing myself into learning and doing something new which helps me step out of my comfort zone and discover hidden traits of my personality. World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about your education. I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you? Hailing from India, where the woman is considered as most powerful and empowering force, women empowerment for me is celebrating her every stride and success. I believe empowerment is beyond just gender quality and creating opportunities for women. It is most importantly respecting her voice, choice and ensuring she has all the resources to take control of her life and realize her dreams. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history. I am new to the pageant world and Mrs. Bharat Texas is the very first pageant that I participated. My journey began with this pageant. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? I remember as a teenager being intrigued by pageant competitions on Television and participating in one myself was a dream come true. I used to feel mesmerized by all the glamor and fashion involved but never really thought of participating in one myself. However, when I saw this pageant being held in my own city, I called the event organizers to know more details. The CEO of My Dream Entertainment, Rashmi Bedi motivated me into giving myself a chance to enter this world. World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? I competed in the Mrs. Category. As a wife and mom of 2 kids, I feel my life is always about responsibilities and fulfilling family needs. I considered this as an opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and do something which I probably only dreamt about. I just wanted to prove to myself that proving ‘age is just a number’ to achieve what you want. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? The framework of this pageant system is to empower each contestant with further personality grooming to build confidence and provide them a platform to showcase their talent and potential. The best part of this pageant system is that it has multiple categories starting from Tween to Grandmom. I was surprised to see so many women who were super talented and they got to present their talents with confidence via this platform. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? Contestants are judged based on various rounds. Social media post, Talent round, Swimsuit round, Ethnic round, Patriotic round (where each contestant had to speak on what patriotism meant to them), Evening gown round and interview round. The choice of dresses for every round, makeup, and social platforms that one supports, confidence and most importantly showing sisterhood behind the scenes also play a major factor in winning the crown. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. My experience has been memorable, and fun filled. Starting from the moment, I signed up, a constant support platform was provided by the state directors to prepare for the contest. They arranged for mentoring sessions to teach the contestants how to walk and talk on the stage. They also gave us tips for packing for the day of competition. Mentoring sessions were so much fun with lot of learning and interacting with pageant sisters. The best part was meeting amazing women achievers and I made some great friends during this pageant. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. I advocate for women empowerment. As stated previously, I am a fitness lover and I enjoy coaching women who are struggling to lose weight and provide training, tips and support during my free time. I am also a registered member for ‘Be the match Registry’ and someday I hope to be matched as donor so I could save a life. I also donate a portion of my salary to a youth empowerment organization in India. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? This pageant has opened a few opportunities for me. The one I am looking forward to is my appearance on a television show where I am invited as their guest. World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? I consider my role as an influencer for many women around me especially in their fitness journey as a greatest achievement till date. I am also a marathon runner. I was featured as a ‘Fearless Female’ for my inspiring journey and contribution in the fitness field by a leading organic health food brand in India. World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? I honestly believe all the women looked beautiful and gave their best on stage. As I stated that I had no prior experience, I put in a lot of efforts to be on the stage by fighting all the challenges that came my way. My hardwork and right approach to prepare for the contest definitely worked in my favor. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. Words cannot explain the joy that this title has brought to me. I went blank for couple of seconds but the very next moment, in my heart, I was thanking God and all those who were part of my support system. The moment when my name was announced on stage has become one of my favorite memories. World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? The title ‘Beauty Queen’ in my opinion is usually misinterpreted. People think it is all about looking beautiful and having a confident personality. Preparing and participating in this pageant has taught me that being a beauty queen is beyond just looking beautiful and glamorous. It takes a lot of inner strength and patience to walk that ramp. Moreover, the crown you win is a responsibility and not a show piece. Beauty queen needs to be poised and beautiful both inside out. The title should be used to spread love in this world and whatever little difference you make in this world will be remembered. World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? Every woman has a ‘Queen’ within her. I believe this pageant has helped me discover that ‘Queen’ within me. It has also helped me understand my potential, feel more confident in my daily life and erase self-doubt by letting me focus on my strengths. Most importantly, I have learnt to embrace my imperfections and shine through them. World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image? Like most of the people, I thought pageants are all about having a perfect body and personality. When I saw all age group women with different body types and backgrounds participating and exceling, it boosted my confidence. It was all about carrying your personality in whatever you wear. I believe one does well in life only if they approve themselves by accepting flaws and understanding self-worth. World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? I feel honored and excited at the same time. I am mother two girls, and my participation has also taught my girls that hard work and focus can help them accomplish any objectives. Being an inspiration to others comes with a huge responsibility and reminds me I cannot slack off on my goals because people are watching my story to write their own. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? The contestants spend hours on makeup, dressing and preparing for the pageant for the few minutes that you get on stage to showcase your personality and confidence. I was mentored to give my best and own the stage when the spotlight is on me. Right posture, walk, eye contact, confidence and above all the right attitude gets you one step closer to the crown. World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? This was my first pageant experience and honestly after registering I worked towards identifying a right mentor to guide me through this process. She helped me understand all the basics starting from how to pack, what to wear for each round and how to prepare for the Q&A round. Her guidance and support throughout instilled a lot of confidence in me to face the competition. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? Ramp walk was my biggest challenge. I hadn’t worn heels for over 15 years due to some nerve issues in my feet. I never felt the need to wear heels because I feared the pain. However, I had no choice but to try wearing heels again. YouTube videos and my mentor played a big role in teaching me how to walk. I used to practice every night for 15 mins walking around my house. I saw the pain returning but I took it slow and steady. On the pageant day, I made sure to give my feet break in between rounds by switching to flats. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress? Right pageant dress need not be super expensive. It needs to be the right color, right fit and most importantly the one that brings out your personality in front of judges. Comfort is a major factor for me while choosing the dress. Last thing I would want on stage would be to trip because of a dress. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview? Winning an interview is possible only when your answer connects with the audience and judges. It is important to comprehend the question correctly before answering. Answers needs to be genuine to touch the hearts of people. World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? I found myself becoming too conscious at times. I had to gather my courage and keep telling myself not to show anxiety. I want to go to my next pageant with lot more practice and confidence to get rid of those nervous moments. World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? Walking too fast or slow on the ramp, inappropriate makeup, wearing uncomfortable dress, not making eye contact with judges, going blank during the interview, trying to fake one’s personality and overconfidence are some major mistakes that happen. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2022 as a Queen? I won a state pageant in 2021 and I am aiming for national pageant in 2022. I met some amazing personalities in the pageant who inspired me with the work they are doing to support a cause. I now want to work more for the social platform I advocate for. I want to win more crowns and use my titles to empower other women. World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? I want people to remember that hard work and passion is all you need to achieve goals and it is never too late to stand up for an objective.
