World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does women Empowerment mean to you? The most important aspect of women empowerment is to support each other.
In the current world we are living in, people do not think in the same way and their own choices, preferences are different to one another. However, it’s significant to allow women to make their own choices and decisions especially in relation to their goals so that women can feel a sense of achievement when working and pursuing their dreams and visions. Women can support each other by guiding and encouraging each other and support one another in challenging times. Women do not need to seek permission from anyone to fulfill their dreams because women can lead. The mindset of being controlled by a man or members of the family need to be changed instead it should be a collaborative and exciting decisions making from both partners/ husband & wife when it comes to a woman's dream. I believe in "Being that kind of woman that makes other women want to up their game". World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your pageant history. This is indeed my first pageant that I have had the opportunity to participate in. I was thrilled to be part of the international pageant "Mrs Tourism". Due to covid circumstances prevailing around the world, the organization organised a virtual online pageant to give the opportunity to the candidates around the world to participate in Mrs Tourism Pageant. I was honored and surprised to hear that I was crowned as Mrs Tourism Ambassador for Arts and cultures and also got a special award as Most supporting candidate in the International Final Pageant Competition. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? I was inspired by Nirma Gooransing (Mrs Tourism Australia/ Mrs Tourism Ambassador 2018). By seeing her competing on an international stage, this gave me the courage to overcome my shyness and I started to believe in myself. Nirma was the one who encouraged me to participate in this pageant and supported me from the beginning to the end of the Pageant Competition. I am very grateful for all the lovely people who helped me in this journey. We had ups and downs and had very limited time to do all the videos. With God's grace all went great. I never thought I would be brave enough to compete in a Pageant. I was also inspired and motivated to participate in the Pageant to be an example and show women, especially older women that we can pursue our dreams and anything is possible if we dream big, all we need is to give it a try and be confident. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? My objective is to show women that we can achieve anything even if we are older and married. In my community most of the women who get married tend to forget about themselves and devote all their time towards their families. We surely can be married and still achieve something for ourselves. This pageant platform has given me the amazing opportunity to speak up on behalf of women who are not able to speak for themselves. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? Mrs tourism pageant is all about mothers who care for the world. By encouraging women to grow and support each other. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are you being judged on during the competition? In the competition we were judged on the Good personality, inner beauty and video presentations, talent competition, evening gown, fashion outfit. I got the opportunity to share some amazing experiences. Learn different kinds of cultures and friendship. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. As a hairdresser I use my talent to help people who cannot afford to pay for a haircut and especially for older people who cannot walk to get a haircut. I volunteer myself by going to their place to do their hair cut. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What appearances have you done with your title? As we were all experiencing pandemic and there was restrictions in my country, I couldn't go to any non profit organization to help. Through social media I done some awareness appearances. Being Mrs Tourism of Arts and Culture, I mainly educate people on different cultures and festivals. Now that restrictions have eased, I will be able to volunteer my time in more projects. This pageant has helped me to motivate myself and keep doing what is good for me. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? I was always bullied by others but now I feel extremely proud and honored to be able to inspire at least one person. It is a great example for girls and women who went through the similar situation like me to be able to face the bully and the world with confidence. People should be educated that bullying have an impact on people's mental health and can lead to further mental injury. People should be mindful and thoughtful when speaking. Even when other girls would be reading this magazine today, if only one girl or woman bravely stand up for themselves, it will be an achievement for me as this article has inspired them. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you prepare for your competition? I had only 2 weeks to prepare for the competition. With lots of rushing around and all I made it with the help of my family and friends around me. I had to prepare for my outfits. As my director was overseas guiding me, we were communicating via video call mostly everyday. My director Nirma helped me in choosing the colour of my dress and we designed my dress. Then my mum sewed my evening gown from scratch. I had a few coaching sessions with my director to work on my pageant walk. She also trained me to be confident, to feel confident and to speak confidently during the pageant final. Within two weeks, with the help of my director, friends, families who have helped me I was able to participate in the competition and brought two titles home to Mauritius making my country Proud.
