World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share a bit about who you are? Like, what are your passions outside of the pageant world?
I am a woman of many dimensions - an engineer by education, a mother, and a wife who finds joy in helping others realize their potential. Outside the pageant world, I am deeply passionate about child welfare and mental health advocacy, using my platform to raise awareness and spark change. As a certified Dance Movement Therapist, Meditation Coach, and Breathwork Practitioner, I empower individuals to find healing and resilience through movement and mindfulness. Traveling is another passion that feeds my soul.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?
My education journey has been one of relentless pursuit and balance. With a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, I’ve navigated fields traditionally dominated by men, learning resilience and leadership. Pursuing a Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy and certifications as a Meditation Coach and Breathwork Practitioner added layers of empathy and self-awareness to my journey. The biggest challenge was balancing my academic aspirations with personal responsibilities, but it taught me time management and focus - skills I now carry into every aspect of my life. Highlights include using my education to solve real-world problems and inspire others, proving that multifaceted women can excel in any domain they choose.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally?
To me, women’s empowerment is the freedom and courage to own your story and live unapologetically. It means creating opportunities for women to succeed, not just as individuals but as catalysts for community transformation. Personally, it’s about setting an example for my son and the next generation that women can be both nurturing and unstoppable. As a Beauty Queen, I embody this empowerment by encouraging others to embrace their authentic selves and take bold steps toward their dreams.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially?
The spark came from a heartfelt conversation with my husband and son during a time when I felt unsure about my purpose. My husband looked me in the eyes and said, “You have so much to give to the world; don’t let your light go unnoticed.” My son, with his candid and insightful feedback, challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and dream bigger. Their faith in me reignited a fire I didn’t even realize I had. They gave me the courage to see pageantry not just as a competition but as a platform to amplify my voice, embrace my individuality, and create meaningful change.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment?
The defining moment was witnessing two young children eating out of a rubbish bin after I had dined with my family at a fancy restaurant. That heart-wrenching image stayed with me, reminding me of the disparities in our world. I realized I needed a platform to amplify my voice and make a difference. Joining my first pageant was a step toward turning my compassion into action.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?
The Mrs. New Zealand title resonated with me because it celebrates the essence of being a modern woman - balancing family, career, and community impact. It’s not just about outer beauty but inner strength and purpose. Representing New Zealand, my home and a land of diversity and opportunities, is a privilege I deeply cherish.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about?
The Mrs. New Zealand is a platform that celebrates married women’s accomplishments, resilience, and advocacy. It’s more than a competition; it’s a movement that empowers women to amplify their voices and create meaningful change. From personal development to global outreach, the system encourages us to dream big and act boldly.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others?
Our pageant director’s genuine passion for nurturing contestants stands out. She created a supportive and inspiring environment that focuses on growth and advocacy, ensuring we leave the competition as stronger individuals regardless of the results. Her emphasis on making a global impact aligns perfectly with my aspirations.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During competitions, what are the key things you're judged on?
Judges evaluate contestants on their confidence, authenticity, stage presence, advocacy efforts, and how well they embody the pageant’s values. It’s about showcasing your unique story and connecting with the audience and judges on a deeper level.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?
Competing has been a transformative journey. A standout moment was when I shared my advocacy for child welfare and saw the emotional connection it created with the audience during our prejudging. It reinforced that vulnerability and authenticity are strengths. I’ve also learned the importance of preparation and embracing every moment on stage.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Would you recommend your pageant system to others? If so, why?
Absolutely! The Mrs. New Zealand is a life-changing experience that goes beyond crowns and sashes. It provides a platform for personal growth, advocacy, and global connections, making it ideal for women who want to make a difference while celebrating their individuality.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?
My advocacy focuses on child welfare and mental health. I’ve collaborated with organizations to provide resources for vulnerable children and raise awareness about mental health, aiming to break stigmas and foster support systems. My goal is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and every individual feels seen and valued. I believe in contributing to causes in any way I can, whether it's through volunteering my time, donating blood, or offering financial support to those in need.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?
I’ve participated in community events, fundraisers, and public speaking engagements, and volunteered at charitable organizations like Sustainable Coastlines, NZ Blood, Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, UNICEF and Dream catchers worldwide. These activities have allowed me to connect with diverse communities and inspire others through my journey.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?
Winning Mrs. New Zealand 2024 is a proud milestone, especially as the first Indian-origin woman to hold this title. Outside pageantry, I’ve succeeded in engineering and business, contributed to community initiatives, and nurtured a loving family while exploring creative and entrepreneurial ventures. One of my proudest moments was being honored with the Community Award at the Indian News Link Community Awards for my contributions to serving the Auckland community, a recognition that reinforces my commitment to giving back and making a meaningful impact.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: In such a competitive field, what do you think makes you stand out?
My authenticity and multifaceted background set me apart. I’m not just a contestant but a storyteller, advocate, and role model who brings genuine passion and purpose to every stage I step on.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I can only imagine how it feels to win. What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
It was a moment of overwhelming gratitude and joy. My thoughts immediately went to my family and the opportunities this title would bring to make a difference. I felt a deep sense of responsibility to honor the crown and the community I represent.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does being a Beauty Queen mean to you?
It means being a leader, an advocate, and a source of inspiration. A Beauty Queen is someone who uses her platform to uplift others and create a legacy of positivity and empowerment.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How have pageants impacted your life?
Pageants have transformed me into a more confident and purpose-driven individual. They’ve taught me to embrace my strengths and use them to make a difference, both personally and professionally.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Finally, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave behind?
I hope to leave a legacy of empowerment, compassion, and change. I want to be remembered as someone who inspired others to dream big, embrace their authentic selves, and contribute meaningfully to the world.
