I am a Bachelor’s in Physics and a Master’s in Computer Science. Presently, working as a Senior Manager with Bank of Baroda. I am married to a Doctor and a proud mother of two children aged 12 years and 6 years. As a child I always wanted to be an independent woman and make my own place under the sun. My ideal world would be one in which our daughters would be able to live a life of dignity, a life of respect and one of self-worth. 3 best qualities to describe me would be a woman of complete integrity, diligent and disciplined. World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about your education. I am a Bachelor’s in Physics and a Master’s in Computer Science. World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you? Every woman’s success story should be an inspiration to another. According to me woman empowerment is about creating a strong woman by being one. Nature has already made women strong in mind and spirit. She can weather storms and handle uncertainty better than anyone else. The only empowerment needed is to provide an environment where a woman can make independent decisions and develop to their full potential. I really believe that to change the world, one should begin with oneself. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history. Mrs India International Queen is my first pageant. As a child, I was always fascinated by beauty pageants and was quite impressed with the winners who were beautiful, smart, confident women whose inner beauty shines brighter than just skin. Joining a beauty pageant has always crossed my mind since childhood. I never imagined that at the age of 42, at the crossroads of my life, I would get to live my childhood dream and be proclaimed winner of Classic Mrs India International Queen 2021. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? Everyone needs a new milestone in life. My desire to rediscover myself at the crossroads of my life and prove a point to myself again made me do my first ever pageant Mrs India International Queen. Also, it was a childhood dream come true. World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? I believed that the journey through the Pageant would help me improve my overall personality and confidence as an individual. I wanted to explore my limitations by stepping out of my comfort zone and try something that I had always dreamt of. This platform was built to create role models and contribute to the society. Therefore, participating in the contest, I believed that I would be able to do my bit for the society and for the less fortunate. Being a global event, I was very much motivated to participate and compete with other strong, beautiful and talented woman from different backgrounds across the globe. World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? Mrs India International Queen is a platform that gives ample opportunities and international exposure for all married ladies across the globe to showcase their talent and live their dreams. Motto of the Pageant is “Be Strong, Be Confident, Be You” which I also strongly believe in. It is a platform that inspires people to believe that every woman is unique and beautiful in her own way. This platform encourages woman empowerment while keeping in touch with Indian culture. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? In the competition, there were different rounds and the contestants were judged on their stage presence, communication skills, confidence, poise, talent and intelligence. Confidently standing out in one’s attire, intelligence and promptness were all judged. One’s conduct in the journey of the pageant was also observed, as was being punctual and disciplined. Judges had an eye out for the ‘beauty with brains’ who always wears her smile with confidence. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. Going through the journey of Mrs India International Queen pageant, I learnt that it takes a lot of hard work and determination to be a Beauty Queen and to win a pageant. As a working mom, it took a lot of patience while preparing for this pageant and at the same time maintaining a balance between personal and professional life. It made me rediscover myself and become a better individual. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. Among many others, I am associated with Nirmal Hriday, Missionaries of Charity, New Delhi which is a shelter home for destitutes and the downtrodden. I sincerely want to improve the life of the less fortunate children of God and I often visit that shelter home to provide food and other necessities. My ideal world would be one in which our daughters would live a life of dignity, respect and self-worth. To achieve that, I believe that basic education for a girl child is of utmost importance. With education comes confidence to fight injustices prevailing in society. I would want to associate myself and work for organizations which provides basic education to girls, educate them to be independent and create awareness against social injustices. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? I have visited Nirbhed Foundation, Ghaziabad which provides free education, food and medical aid to underprivileged children as a part of the program, ‘Divine Activity’ organized by Mrs India International Queen Team with a concept of giving back to society. I was felicitated by my organization for being crowned as winner of Classic Mrs India International Queen 2021. Also, my interview after winning the crown was broadcast on ‘Baroda Radio’ which is a podcast run internally by my bank, Bank of Baroda. World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? I am an independent working mother managing and balancing my personal and professional life very well. Achieving what I am and what I have today in itself is an accomplishment for me. My journey from my schooldays in a remote town in Assam, India to being a well qualified and successful working woman is an achievement for me. And finally winning Classic Mrs India International 2021 along with the contest-subtitle ‘Most Beautiful Smile’ is my biggest achievement. World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? My truthfulness, resolution and transparency. I believe all the ladies who participated were beautiful in their own ways, both from outside as well as from inside. But what sets me apart from everyone else is my motivation towards learning new things, my love for all humanity and my belief of a better tomorrow. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner. It was a surreal moment. Both as a validation of my effort as well as the ultimate realization of the fact that I have finally clinched it. Like reality and fantasy coming together to make my dream come true. After all these days, it has finally sank in now. World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? I should say it was a final endorsement of something I had always believed in. We, all women are beauty queens in our own right. And that is what I tell my daughter and to all the daughters I see around. To be a beauty queen is not only about the external beauty. It is about believing in ourselves and in everything we stand for, that makes one ‘beautiful’ in the true sense. World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? Competing in the pageant has helped improve my overall personality. I have evolved as a better and more confident person; and have started believing in myself and my capabilities again. World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image? Winning this pageant was the final affirmation of what I had always believed in. That I am beautiful, not only by my looks, but also in mind and spirit. Notwithstanding the fact that I have won the pageant, my very participation also did wonders to my self belief, self-respect and my trust in all good things. World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? It feels awesome and surreal. To be a source of inspiration to someone is an unparalleled feeling. It took me a lot of courage to overcome my insecurities and my very own personal battles to be standing where I am right now. It also made me resolve that the responsibility, I have been given, as a winner of the pageant does not go unfulfilled. Just like all the love and support I got, I would love to help and guide all the prospective pageant participants. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? There was no strategy. Just like there is no secret ingredient. Self–belief, confidence and an absolute unfailing honesty made the answers come straight from the heart. Also, my determination made me carry myself with absolute confidence on stage that day. Those qualities I believe, is what the judges saw in me. Of course the warmth of my family’s love, the support of the pageant’s organizers and the encouragement I saw in the Judges’ eyes made me the winner that day. World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? To be honest, this is my life’s first pageant and I have not participated in any pageant before. Of course I was following all the world events, international humanitarian issues and global fashion trends. These have always held my interests and has immensely helped me in my preparation. I have worked hard on my fitness routine, did extensive research on fashion for the attires to be worn at the pageant and finally diligently practiced walking the ramp. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? I walked in front of the mirror after going through many Youtube videos of multiple pageants. Walking in 4 and a half-inch heels was initially uncomfortable but I managed to overcome the discomfort after a few days. Walking on my toes with a book balanced on my head helped. Also pushing my entire body and back against a wall while holding it for couple of minutes finally improved my posture. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress? I kept in mind the current trends and chose the right colour, shade and design for different rounds. Although I know I am not a ‘size-zero’, I know that I have a naturally beautiful bodyline and that the dress should compliment my body. My tips for choosing the dress would be to have the dress flatter your body’s positive sides and hide the flaws if any. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview? The trick is to stay true to oneself. One should be realistic in preparing for the interview. I tried to keep myself abreast of the current, social and political scenario. Also, I tried to have my clear opinions on world matters and ground realities, and not to appear reading from a particular script. Also, I tried to be humble, clear on my opinions but non-antagonistic while answering. World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? I believe there is nothing to redo or fix. I enjoyed every moment of my pageant journey. It was a learning experience which finally led to my winning the crown. No regrets. Just gratitude. World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? One should be true to oneself and realistic while contesting in a pageant. One should not try to be a different person and should always feel comfortable in her own skin. Not being herself is the common mistake made by girls during a contest. World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? Not yet. But I love to be on stage. I really liked to emote and loved doing my parts in my Theatre-club in school. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2022 as a Queen? At the outset let me say I am living out my dream right now. The thought of me being the ‘Queen’ has sank in, finally. So, I have started doing what I had planned. I have visited many NGOs, destitute homes and orphanages around the city. But I have plans to reach out in a larger way to the bigger world. ‘Female education’ is very close to my heart and I have made plans, although tentative, but with firm timelines and a definite roadmap to complete the same. World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? As an ambassador and winner of Classic Mrs India International Queen, I want to be remembered for my frank opinions, gracefulness and positivity. With all humility, I state that I am the first lady from a Nationalized Banking sector to win an International Beauty Pageant and bring laurels to the banking fraternity. I hope to pass on my good work to the future crowned winners. International Director: Mrs. Ankita Saroha National Director: Mrs. Ankita Saroha Pageant website: www.mrsindiainternationalqueen.com
