Hello Universe, I am Roselle Yang , Mrs. Universe Asia USA-2024 Title Winner Crowned by National Director, Shreyaa Sumi. I am set to represent the 47th Mrs. Universe in South Korea. As a devoted mother to my three sons and my furry baby, Tootsie, I also enjoy pole dancing, spending time with my sisters, and modeling outside of pageantry, but my greatest passion lies in helping others through my work as a registered nurse case manager.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I’m curious about your education journey. What's it been like for you, any particular highlights or challenges?

I hold a bachelor's degree in behavioral science and nursing, both earned in the Philippines, while balancing motherhood, demonstrating my determination to secure my children's future.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Women's empowerment is such a key topic. What does it mean to you personally?

When I recognized that our household income couldn't sustain our three children in the Philippines, I made the tough choice to pursue a nursing degree, knowing it would lead to a US visa and job opportunities, even though it meant temporarily leaving my husband and children behind to create a brighter future for them. After establishing a new life in California on my own for nine years, my family was finally able to join me. To me, giving my family a better life through my own efforts is the essence of female empowerment.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you get into pageants? What sparked your interest initially?

Since childhood, I have aspired to participate in pageants and explore modeling or the entertainment industry; now, I'm thrilled to seize this opportunity, celebrating beauty and my own confidence.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What motivated you to participate in your first pageant? Was there a defining moment?

A pivotal moment for me was recognizing my self-love and confidence, fueled by my passion for beauty, which motivated me to join my first pageant and pursue modeling.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What do you think sets your pageant director apart from others?

My pageant Director's name is Shreyaa Sumi who is also a beauty queen from the same pageant system previously. She provides invaluable support, guidance, and encouragement. Her extensive knowledge of the Mrs. Universe system and pageantry in general is truly impressive. She makes this journey easier and more enjoyable for me. While I'm sure most, if not all, of the directors are like her, what sets her apart is the genuine friendship that she offers me.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? What made it stand out for you?

I chose to compete in Mrs Universe Asia USA'2024 pageant based in Los Angeles because of its prestigious reputation and inclusive environment, which uniquely welcomes women of diverse ages and marital statuses, providing a rare opportunity for someone like me since most beauty pageants have age limits.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What’s your competition experience been like? Any memorable moments or learnings?

It's been a memorable experience. One of the most significant takeaways from my preparation journey is the importance of continuous self-improvement, as there is always room to enhance and refine oneself, and this experience has reinforced the idea that personal growth is an ongoing process.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: I'd love to know more about your pageant system. Could you explain what it’s all about?

The Mrs. Universe Asia USA pageant is a prestigious event that celebrates the beauty, talent, and cultural heritage of women of Asian- American descent living in the USA. The pageant is part of the larger Mrs. Universe organization, which is based in Bulgaria and aims to empower women globally and promote inclusiveness . Mrs. Universe Asia USA-Winner will get the opportunity to represent at the global pageant Mrs. Universe Ltd owned by Megi Savova.

Currently, Shreyaa Sumi is the only authorized National Director & Franchise owner for the Title Mrs. Universe Asia USA associated with Mrs. Universe ltd , after several rounds (Introduction, Evening Gown walk & Talent) the Winner is selected to represent at Mrs. Universe Finale.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: During Mrs. Universe competitions, what are the key things you're judged on?

National Costume : This segment showcases elaborate costumes that represent their country’s or Heritage's tradition, History & Culture displayed through stunning outfits.

Evening Wear: This segment evaluates how contestants carry themselves in evening attire. It’s not just about the gown but also how elegantly they present themselves and move in it.

Social Advocacy Platform on the Topic ''Domestic Violence'' where we have to give a Presentation for 2 mins in front of the audience. During the forum, we get to share our volunteer work as a reigning Queen. Let us remember that domestic violence is not a private issue; it is a societal one. By raising our voices, supporting survivors, and advocating for change, we can make a difference. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.

I would definitely suggest the pageant system (Mrs. Universe Asia USA) to individuals who appreciate the value of hard work, as participating in a pageant requires dedication and perseverance, despite being an enjoyable experience.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell me about your advocacy or volunteer work. What causes are you passionate about?

I am dedicated to empowering victims of domestic violence to speak out and break their silence, as many women suffer in fear within their own homes, which should be a place of safety and refuge.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: With your title, what kinds of appearances or activities have you been involved in?

Since being crowned Mrs Universe Asia USA-2024, I have received numerous invitations to attend award ceremonies, participate in fashion shows, pose for photoshoots, and be featured in a magazine.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Can you share some of your achievements, both in and outside of pageantry?

Mrs Universe Asia USA'2024 & Mrs. Universe 2024 are the first pageants I have joined but outside of pageantry, I won first place in the 2022 PSO Pacific Pole Championship, Level 2 Grandmaster division.

I believe that my genuine passion, sincerity, and unique qualities, fueled by my positive energy, will differentiate me from others.

My victory as Mrs. Universe Asia USA-2024 has filled me with pride and gratitude, acknowledging the fruits of my labor and perseverance, as well as the chance to participate & represent in the global Mrs. Universe competition.

A beauty queen serves as an inspiration and role model to empower other women, while also championing and supporting deserving social causes.

Participating in pageants has significantly enhanced my confidence and self-esteem, while also fostering enduring friendships and a strong network of supportive individuals.

Capturing the Mrs Universe Asia USA-2024 title in my 50s profoundly boosted my self-assurance and strengthened my self-acceptance.

I am deeply moved that others consider me an inspiration, and my heartfelt message to them is this: recognize your inner strength, courage, and intelligence, and have faith in your abilities. Support and uplift one another, and together, let's build a world filled with compassion, joy, and limitless potential.

To truly impress the judges, it's essential to showcase not only your physical appearance but also your inner strength, personality, and character, and this can be achieved by exuding confidence, authenticity, and thorough preparation.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How do you prepare for competitions? Any specific routines or practices?

Getting ready for competitions requires a holistic approach that encompasses physical, mental, and emotional preparation. This includes physical training to achieve a toned and healthy physique, establishing skincare and haircare routines for a radiant appearance, and practicing confidence-boosting techniques such as affirmations and visualization. Additionally, cultivating self-love, self-acceptance, and effective stress management through methods like meditation and deep breathing are essential.

To master the ideal pageant walk, consistent practice is essential, focusing on key elements such as maintaining good posture, smiling genuinely, establishing eye contact, pacing yourself, and exuding confidence.

Selecting the perfect pageant dress can be a daunting task, yet it's also a thrilling aspect of the overall experience. To make a lasting impression, it's crucial to choose a gown that not only reflects your personality and boosts your confidence but also fits impeccably and ensures comfort. Moreover, opting for a distinctive dress that sets you apart from others is vital to capturing attention and making a memorable statement.

I'm completely satisfied with my preparation and every experience I've had up until now, there's nothing I would change.

Show Passion toward what you do. Let your enthusiasm and passion for your platform or cause shine through. Judges are drawn to contestants who are genuinely passionate about their advocacy. Ultimately, the most important thing is to be yourself. Authenticity is key to making a lasting impression on the judges.

When participating in contests, it's crucial to recognize and avoid common pitfalls, including inadequate preparation, failure to adhere to rules, and ineffective time management.

I have experience in both commercial and fashion modeling.

World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans or goals for the upcoming year as a Queen?

As a queen, my objective is to inspire and empower others through motivational leadership, while increasing community involvement and promoting initiatives that address social issues, particularly domestic violence awareness, on both local and international levels.

My goal is to motivate others, especially women my age to follow their passions and contribute positively to the world around them.
