I was born in a traditional family, but I am the person who always dare to dream, proactive and think out of the box since I was a child. However, due to various difficulties environmental factors, I stopped my formal education after graduating from secondary school, but I never gave up to have all opportunities to learn and discover, especially in business management and operations!

In order to change my living environment, I have moved from the remote northern countryside to the big city -- Johor Bahru in the south. I had a lot of hardships and understand the human nature in life. I also realized that there is no shortcut for changing and to have better quality in life, I must rely on my own efforts and know how to grasp opportunities. Later, times and circumstances create opportunities, I finally had the opportunity to run my own business.

Of course, I have suffered a lot and facing a lot of challenges while trying to expand my business, but I have taken hardships as supplements, and believe that hitting the wall will make me become stronger. I have been accumulating the experience of failure, using sweat and tears, step by step, and gradually I have grown my own career, developed and established my loyalty management team, I have also built my partnership and network. I am very lucky, my business has got supported by our suppliers and customers, only then I have succeeded to develop my Soon Shing Group’s dynasty.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

For me, women's empowerment is: In first place, it is freedom. Freedom of expression, freedom of making decisions, freedom to be inspired and to live a full life. To be happy. Freedom to be happy.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

On an ordinary night, I saw a post of Lumiere International Pageant when I using Facebook. I have always had a dream of beauty pageant, so I ask my husband’s opinion whether I should go and have a try. As always, my husband supported me and he gives me a lot of encouragement. The next day, I sent in my photo to Lumiere International Pageant and the story begins. I felt nervous while I am in, but my family did give me a lot confident and I also told myself if I’m in I will give it all!

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

Well, I would say when the very first thing people say to you upon being introduced is “OMG, you are sooooo gorgeous!”As I said, I always had a dream to become beauty pageant, and this random opportunity let me felt it was my duty to share myself with a larger audience. By joining this, I gain more self-confidence compare to the past. I also learned a lot of things for example, catwalk, dancing, self-confidence and the most important one is I become more beautiful compare to the past hahaha! Apart from the competition, I get to know many new friends from other countries. Especially our lovely Queen Mummy - Justina Quek Siew Bee! She’s my superior in some way.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

I choose to compete for my current title because winners usually work hard for it, come prepare to win. I have to be a role model at all time. Even though it is not easy, but I’m sure I can do it. And as a mother, I hope to teach my child not to give up at anything and don’t be afraid to try. Even if the results it’s not good at lease we’ve tried and we gained experience. I am always afraid of failure. But without fail, we won’t learn to succeed.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

Before I started participating in pageants, I was rather shy and introverted. I didn’t know how to meet people, how to talk with them, how to make eye contact, and how to carry a conversation. The best learning tool I had from pageants was through the interview process. I learned how to form my opinions and how to back them up, I learned how to defend my points of view, and I learned how to think on my feet. I also learned about good posture, eye contact, and effective body language.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

Volunteering can help us feel connected to those we’rehelping in the community. This experience may make us want to get involved with other aspects of our community. I felt that spending money on others or giving to charity puts a bigger smile on your face better than buying things for yourself.
