World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about your education.
Apart from my Matric Exemption and Diploma in Hospitality Sales and Marketing. I have gained a wealth of knowledge through not only being a mother and wife but also being an Entrepreneur where I have learnt that if you don’t always win, you always learn. World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you? Women Empowerment for me means to uplift and support women. Empowering girls and women is powerful. Today, we know it is the key to economic growth, political stability and social transformation. When women succeed, nations are more safe, secure and prosperous!
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history. I entered Mrs Johannesburg in 2016, I was quite timid as I had never done anything like this before and I had no experience, but I took a chance out of my comfort zone and was surprisingly blessed to be crowned Mrs Johannesburg 2016. I then went on to enter the national pageant and was blessed to be crowned Mrs Mzantzi Africa 2018 and Mrs Africa Humanity 2018. All Glory to God! Last year which was a very difficult year, as is this year, as it was Covid-19, I was a finalist for Mrs African United Continent and it was then cancelled in April 2020 due to Covid-19, but it is amazing how nothing happens by accident. I believe God is directing each one of our steps and I ended up entering Mrs Gauteng and all glory to God, I am humbled, honored and grateful to have this amazing platform, to serve children and people in impoverished communities, to be a voice for those who can’t talk, to empower, impact and uplift others and to try help eradicate poverty in South Africa. World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant? Through giving back through my business, I loved the personal satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of others. I then was inspired to become the best version of myself, this is when my search for personal mastery came about. The only way that I could achieve personal mastery was to get out of my comfort zone. I soon realized that giving back to people and children in need was going to be the best way to make that positive difference and realize my goal. For me it was definitely about “Beauty with a Purpose”. Growing yourself enables you to grow others.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title? After winning the Mrs Johannesburg title, Mrs Mzantzi Africa title and Mrs Africa Humanity title and having the most humbling, fabulous and rewarding years of reign, I just loved it! Charity work and giving back has become my passion. The lives that I touched and made a difference too, was priceless, I do believe that God is directing our steps and for this reason I felt compelled to go on to compete for the Mrs Gauteng title.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about? Rolemodels Foundation intervenes in impoverished communities throughout South Africa, specifically targeting the three most vulnerable groups within a community; The Imfundo Educate and Skills Development Project – The projects mission is to initiate and sustain early childhood development facilities for children in disadvantage communities and helping them get an education. The Asante Neo Life Project – Protecting and supporting abused women and children. The Tamakhulu Project – This project is dedicated to restoring dignity to our senior citizens. World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition? During the competition we were judged on charity work and raising funds for the foundation, interview round, theme wear, evening wear and on stage presence and confidence.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition. During the competition it was amazing. I found myself getting out of my own comfort zone. It made me seek, search and believe in new goals that helped me achieve things that I would never have imagined possible. Through my internal and new challenging mindset I found many new answers within in my own spirit.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for. I support Rolemodels Foundation 0844422NPO – which falls under 3 sectors – I am very passionate about helping children in disadvantage communities get an education, abused women and children and our senior citizens. We are currently in the process of starting a new project called Starfish Places of Safety which is safe place where vulnerable children can be nurtured, protected, guided and restored. Something that I am very excited about as I believe every child matters. I am also very passionate about our animals too – the Pawsome Pet Project is a new project that we will roll out this year to help pet shelters in need, that will fall under Rolemodels Foundation. I also love inspiring ladies, to be the best version of themselves, I love giving talks to encourage, motivate, mentor and inspire ladies on a personal level or business level. World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title? I have been able to pack, deliver food parcels and clothes to people in need over this devastating time. I have reached out to local newspapers and used social media platforms to gain traction from my communities in helping with donations during this critical time.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements? To start with one of my biggest achievements or success has been seeing how ploughing into the community has made a difference to women and children needing support and education. This has made the motto “we make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give” come to life for me. I strongly believe that if we are not living our life to make someone else’s life better, then we are not really living at all.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls? I believe that your individuality is what makes you beautiful. You are worthy of everything this world has to offer and no-one can ever take that away from you. No one is YOU and that is your SUPERPOWER!!! I believe that if you love what you do everything else will love what you do. World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
Overwhelmed, to say the least… when they announced my name to take the title as Mrs Gauteng 2021. The feeling was sublime and surreal! All Glory to God! World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen? Flattered, honoured and inspired to grow awareness and focus for “Beauty With A Purpose” in giving back to people less fortunate then ourselves! World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life? It has taught me that, if your faith is big, your dreams will be even bigger. It is all about having the courage to get out of your comfort zone. World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image? Pageants have definitely, helped me to have more confidence in myself and self belief and it has made me realize that I can achieve the unachievable through faith and the support of others. One of my favourite quotes that inspires my answer and furthermore I believe that it is the sum of the parts that makes the whole is “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.” - RyunosukeSatoro World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel? It is really awesome to know that I am an inspiration to girls out there. I love empowering, motivating and encouraging young girls and ladies to be the best version of themselves and to keep believing in themselves and reach for their full potential. World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over? I believe you just need to be yourself, warm, friendly and outgoing on stage and most of all have fun. Smile and let your heart shine through and walk with absolute confidence and energy, own the stage. World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition? I was blessed to be sponsored by Pascall Model Management, they helped me so much to get ready for my pageant and for “walking” me through my Mrs Gauteng journey. I am so grateful to have had such an amazing modelling coach that believed in me and helped me achieve my dreams, so that I could have a platform to make a difference.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk? Practice makes progress and progress with lots of practice makes perfect. World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress? To find a designer that understands you and your needs, I was lucky enough to find Dennis Lloyd undoubtedly the lead fashion designer within the beauty pageant space within South Africa he truly takes time to tailor make everyone of his clients physics, because he is gifted in his own sphere of talent within fashion design. He truly is Africa’s master in design in my opinion.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview? To be yourself and enjoy every moment through telling the truth and showing people that being happy and positive in life is the real secret that unlocks happiness and focus. World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it? Nothing.
World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest? Greed and selfishness.
World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience? For me, life has been a continuous platform to act and model.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2021 as a Queen? My Plans are simple and I have been the same since I started on my journey to help others, however in 2021, I am going to use the lessons that I have learnt in my entrepreneurial world and I will be launching my own Collagen brand, called Collagen Queen, which is a fabulous product to help make you look and feel the best you can be – inside and out, which helps your skin, hair, joints, muscles, gut, bone and nails. I will then be donating some of the proceeds to the Rolemodels Foundation as my slogan says it all “Beauty Starts Within.” World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
In my year of reign my biggest focus is to grow the awareness of the Rolemodels Foundation, ultimately getting more people interested in entering any one of the regional beauty pageants because the more people making a positive difference throughout South Africa will mean that I had truly used my platform responsibly. I believe that we have used beauty with a purpose to its full potential. I dream of sitting back one day and realizing the fact that I was a catalyst in growing humanity with a purpose!
