World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Please tell us about yourself.
I am a mother of three teenagers, Thamara (17 years old), my twins Mario Andres and Jorge Luis (13 years old). I am a nurse midwife, specialist in mental health and psychiatry. Currently, I am working as a university professor at the Santa Lucia University. I am preparing new professionals in the area of nursing. Besides, I work with the Tribunal Examinador de Postagrado in the same institution that I mentioned before. I love my profession because I can learn about new cultures and places. I consider that I am a perseverant girl, empower and a dreamer.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does women Empowerment means to you?
For me, it means to teach other to love, valuate and find themselves in a unique way. Physically beauty is not a priority when you are an empower girl. I think that the most important thing is to love ourselves the way we are because what really matter is what we have inside in order to show our soul.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your pageant history.
I participated in Mrs. Universe Costa Rica 2017, achieving the top 5. In 2018, I participated Mrs. Universe Costa Rica and received the crown, that same year I represented Costa Rica in Mrs. Universe International obtaining the top 25
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
I was inspired by achieving a dream that I had when I was a child. That dream was affected
when I got pregnant but that dream came back when I noticed that I could participate in
Mrs. Universe.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I think that is it a platform to empower women that even though they are mothers, they can achieve what they want as the same way I did.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
First of all, there is a selection process. The first thing is the casting and then they choose a candidates that ones who have to be prepared during 4 months to the final competition where they will choose the queen.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are you being judged on during the competition?
There are many things that interfere during the competition: responsibility, commitment, and projection. The chosen one is valuated in an integral way. At the end of the competition, there is a jury that is the one in charge of taking the final decision throughout an interview that is made to every single candidate. At the final award gala, the jury takes into account the catwalk and the projection of each participant.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your experience during the competition.
The best experience that I have ever had, including national and international competitions. I challenged myself to be the best version of me and my own competence. In this way I achieved my dream.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.
One of the most important objectives for me is to support women that need or require help in case they suffer from low self-steam, abuse and other kinds of problems that we face every day.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What appearances have you done with your title?
I have participated in beneficial catwalks; I have been a judge in different fashion galas and some projects of social goods.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are some of your achievements?
Being the best mother, professional and a beauty queen are some of the best achievements that I have had.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
It makes me see the world in a different way because it helps me be humble, increase my perseverance and the way to see the world that surrounds me.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.
When they said my name as a winner, I could not believe it. My tears of happiness did not disappear because I was grateful to god for letting me achieve a goal that I had always dreamed about.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
Be a beauty queen is a wonderful compromise because it is more than a crown. It is not only about looking good outside; it is also about being a great person to give a positive message to the society
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
Before being part of Mrs. Universe, I was an insecure girl with a low self-steam. I did not believe in myself. When I finish the empowerment process, the best version of me was born. I did know who I was and could find myself right there.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did pageants helped your selfesteem and body image?
They helped me in an incredible way because they gave us many workshops, the ones that helped us to be better not only in our physical appearance, but also in our self-steam. They have a great team that is in charge of the process of nutrition, psychology and an image design among others.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
It makes me feel so happy and proud of transmitting a positive message; moreover, I can inspire other women to follow their goals and dreams. World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?
The best way to do it is by feeling confident in order to show it to other people.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: How did you prepare for your competition?
I prepare myself with an interdisciplinary team. The one that is part of the Mrs. Universe organization of Costa Rica.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?
They need to have a lot of practice in order to improve, but the most important thing is the way we feel inside. That helps us show our best during the catwalk.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?
The best dress is going to be chosen according to how we feel. Obviously, we need to take into consideration a professional image designer.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your tips for winning interview?
To be confident will always be the best tip to win. It is not only about the interview, but it is also about what we want to achieve.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?
Maybe the worst mistake I have made is to look at the qualities of other candidates. When I realized that the only competitor I had was me, I was capable of winning the competition because I trusted on myself.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?
One of the biggest mistakes that other girls make is not to focus on themselves and keep an eye on other participants.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: Any modeling or acting experience?
Yes, the social good catwalks. That is the only experience I have had.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?
To continue inspiring other girls throughout my experience and testimony.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
My life logo is “We are the same size of our dreams; as a result, we must dream big“. We need to believe in ourselves because we are capable of achieving the goals that we set. That is the legacy that I want to transmit to others.
