World Class Designers Magazine: Please tell us about your brand? Gabriella Cavanda Couture is a haute couture brand specialized in unique and tailor-made pieces. World Class Designers Magazine: Tell us about the history of your brand? Gabriella Cavanda Couture's main goal is to embellish the client. The brand was born at the end of my studies in 2011 and branches out into two main areas: the tailor-made department which focuses on wedding dresses and gala outfits for both male and female and Gabriella Cavanda Lingerie that is dedicate to fine lingerie. We plan to continue branching out in other areas too as soon as these first two are consolidated. World Class Designers Magazine: Please tell us about yourself? I am a mother but also an entrepreneur that loves originality. My work showcases the never-ending ideas and creativity that coexist within me. World Class Designers Magazine: Tell us about your collection we are showcasing? The SS21 collection is a collection that was born as a result of personal reflection. My goal was to create a collection that helped boost confidence and self love, whilst showing women's natural charm and beauty in a simple yet elegant stance with a touch of originality. World Class Designers Magazine: What was your inspiration? The woman and her ability to multitask and wear several hats at once. I wanted to portray this in my clothing line all whilst maintaining elements of sobriety and purity to allow the customer to engage in affirming herself. Imagine a silhouette with character and an strong sense of self-confidence. That's what I aim to recreate with every garment. World Class Designers Magazine: Which major fashion shows were you able to showcase your collection so far? Soulier d'Eben / top model Belgium/ Paris Fashion week / ... World Class Designers Magazine: What local, national or international celebrities did you dress so far? I have worked with a vast range of clients including football players Paul Jose mpoku, Samuel Bastien and Luis Pedro Cavanda who is also my brother, Krystel Company, Miss Angola Benelux, Miss Congo Belgium, Miss Belgium Veronique deCoxk, and various singers such as Angela Ricci.
World Class Designers Magazine: What made you decide to become a fashion designer? My mom always encouraged me to express what was in me, being a former model herself. After recovering from a serious accident I promise myself that if I was blessed enough to regain my motor skills, I had to express myself and the greatness of the Lord as loud and as long as possible. World Class Designers Magazine: What are some of your highlights as a designer? My biggest highlight was certainly being able to showcase my collection at Salon Marceau for PFW in 2020. Lockdowns have prevented us from doing the one in Milan and Moscow but these have only been postponed. I'm just getting started so I'm excited about what's to come. World Class Designers Magazine: What were some obstacles as a young designer that you had to overcome. The biggest is probably my location and the lack of contacts. It’s not easy to express yourself in this vast and diversified world of haute couture and make meaningful connections when you come from a small town in Belgium. World Class Designers Magazine: As a established Designer what are your goals now? My next goal is to dress celebrities for the red carpet events.
