World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.(Personal, non pageant)

Born in Melbourne, Australia and grew up in Malaysia has been quite a special experience for me. I always curious about myself when people asked me where I am from. Nevertheless, this has not stopped me in enjoying and embrace every steps of my life. I have spent most of my years in Malaysia where it is a multicultural country as well as is a food heaven. I was a girl with quite a strength back then, think that I am stronger than other girls. My outfits are very similar to boys rather than wearing skirts and like pink stuffs. I love helping out my dad in repairing stuffs at our home and also doing some carpentry work, this is probably why I am stronger than other girls I guess! Besides that, I have started cooking when I was 7 years old starting from a pack of noodle until a dish of delicacies. Thanks to my dad as well who used to be a kitchen hand in New Zealand that have allowed him in knowing all kinds of western as well as Asian cuisines.

I love talking and socialize with people, thanks to my mum’s outgoing personality that has passed on me. Talking to people allows me to gain my courage on speaking in front of people, and from there, from few people to a few hundreds of people. When I used to be president of my student club back in Curtin University Western Australia, I have to face a lot of new arrive students which maybe shy and scared at the first time. I manage to bring out my positive and outgoing personality in order to make them feel welcomed which in the end willing to have fun with all of us. I also doing pet sitting and greyhounds fostering. It breaks my heart when I see people abandoned their pets and some of them even put their pets in sleep. As a results, I always volunteer in fostering so that I hope I can contribute my love to them as well as finding a better home for them.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does women Empowerment means to you?

Empowerment is a big word for me when I was younger, not knowing what it is. However, for now, I think women empowerment not only is a word but is a statement. Just like me, I never thought myself in doing modelling or pageants until one day I tell my myself that “Let’s do this!”. By joining some events, I felt more empowered that we are all beautiful regardless of how our body shape is or what culture background we are. Empowerment is kind of feeling that we feel positive and confidence, especially from our inner which is our mentality, morality and ethnics. Without handling those values correctly, even with just a beautiful face, it doesn’t really allow our confidence go far beyond. Women empowerment is so important nowadays because there are some countries that is still on sex discrimination and I would like to say that we are made by God as well that we are all the same and all are equal. Women are believed that can be leaders one day and that is how strong by having empowerment and gain confidence and beliefs as well as supporting each other.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.

It all started in year 2018, when one of the model companies found me through social media and asked whether I was interested in joining a three days gaining self- confidence campaign follow by a cat walking show. I was hesitating as first, knowing that I never know that I will be selected in doing cat walking or posing as I thought that I am not that pretty enough. However, I have agreed and told myself that it is just like other events in university. Surprising, I enjoyed the whole process which made me in gaining more confidence and also towards modelling and cat walking. From there, I start to apply different kinds of pageant competitions. This first pageant competition that I have joined as the Miss World Australia which was in early year 2019, though I didn’t win, I had great experiences and by observe other girls who are more experiences than me, it is a good chance for me to learn.

In the same year 2019, I have selected in representing Western Australia in competing for Miss International Australia which held in New South Wales, Australia. It was a truly a great experience that we are able to meet each other from different state and we are definitely still pageant sister till now!

And the most recent which is in early year 2020, that I won the title of Miss FACE WA model 2020. It was truly the happiest day in my life knowing that my effort has come to a result that I won’t be regretting in.

World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?

Knowing that I love pageants since young but my confidence was not enough as well as pageants are not really a thing in Malaysia as Malaysia is quite a conservative country whereby we cannot show lots of skin and body shape. As a kid that only able to watch Miss Universe on television hoping one day will be like them, this has triggered me in doing my first pageant and not letting my life in regrets.

World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?

FACE WA pageants is about helping people in their confidence and self-esteem regardless of where you come from and cultural background. To me, it is always my dream to help motivate women and girls in Australia whereby social issues such as school and cyber bullying that happens a lot when they are young which results them in low self-esteem and no confidence in doing anything. I’m also once a person who does not believe in myself that I will be standing on the stage with beautiful gown and cat walking because I know that I am not good enough. Yet I overcome myself and I want to pass messages to people that they can do it as well as long as they have the passion and heart to do so. Nothing is impossible.

As a result, I want to become the ambassador or the face of Miss FACE WA to motivate women to love themselves more, and this is the reason why I compete for this title.

World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?

FACE WA is a model and pageants company whereby creating opportunities to men and women, not limited by age, by bringing them in competing pageant competitions not only national but also internationally, in order to embrace and celebrate Australian and multicultural heritage across the world. Not only that, FACE WA also helping people in allowing their inner and outer beauty to shine through participation in an array of activities through events and competitions which they can share their cultural background from Western Australia to the rest of the world and from there to create a true of friendship between countries. In addition, FACE WA emphasize on training the best quality of pageant routine, from makeup, rampa walk, posing to dietary, which strictly trained by our coaches who has won lots of titles internationally.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?

Starting from opening rampa, introduction, national costumes, swimwear, cocktail dress and ball gowns, following by the last category, questions and answers.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your experience during the competition.

The experiences were definitely great as I get know other girls that has the same passion and thrive to the same goal, which is to show our inner beauty and confidence. On that night, there were mixed emotions as I was chosen to be the first to stand on stage in every category. I was nervous yet I told myself that I will be fine. There were hundreds of people and heaps of lights that shines on us and I guess that is when the adrenaline came in which making me even want more in getting the Miss FACE WA 2020 title.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

As a person who is in love with animals, I have been volunteering the fostering greyhounds. In Australia, greyhounds are used for racing and some of them have to be euthanized when they cannot run anymore or they got hurt while competing. In this case, they are lots of non-profit organization that help rehome greyhounds because they deserve better life. I have been help fostering greyhounds for years and I have seen many of them got rehome in the end which made me very happy and proud of what I have helped.

World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?

I am able to reach our more people such as had an interview with one of the famous publisher, Ronell Amper that has published on Facebook after I got my title. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is less appearances since there is a lockdown till now. Up till now, I have been doing photoshoots which help me to build up my portfolio and confidence until I will be competing Miss Asian International next year once the border has opened, finger crossed for that.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are some of your achievements?

Beside getting the title will be one of my achievements, I would say that my biggest achievements is that I am able to influence people with my inner beauty not only external. I feel more confidence nowadays that I am able to motivate people to do what they want to do regardless of how people will judge because the biggest enemy is ourselves. If we are not believing ourselves, no one will believe either.  As long as you have a positive mind and a kind heart, it will lead you to a road that you will never regret of.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?

I can say that I have the most cheerful and happy going smile, lots of energy in socializing with people that able to create conversation with people and to motivate them in a positive way.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about the moment your name was called out as the winner.

I was the last person who being called out when everyone got their titles. At that moment I felt upset and confused, thinking that did I perform poorly? Because I never ever believe I will get the title! I thought I was doing poorly in some categories that I can feel my nervousness, yet I was so confidence in Q&A that I was able to answer fluently with knowledge. I was breathing very hard before the judge announced me as the winner and I was shaking and so happy when I got that crown on my head. My heart was filled with so much of joyful emotions that I can’t even described in words. I was just really really happy.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?

A beauty queen is a person that act as an ambassador to help in passing the missions and values of the title and to influence and motivate other people through her wisdom, knowledge as well as her kind heart.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?

By increasing in my self-development that I feel more empowered and confidence that nowadays I am happier knowing that I have a more positive mind and able to motivate people. Besides that, it also helps me in widen my personal connections as well.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did pageants helped your self-esteem and body image?

Throughout the training from our professional trainers we have learnt our basic posture required for pageants such as pretty feet and how we should be posing with no slouching at all and also walk with our back straight. This has helped me in more confidence when my back is straight and walk like a confident woman. It took some time for me to get used to it, especially with sore back after training, but I can say it was all worth it.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?

I feel wonderful and I am proud of myself that I am able to help all the girls who want to do pageants but has doubts on it. I will be more than happy to help them in getting through it and not being afraid at all. Instead, embrace the scares and turn them into courage.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is your on stage strategy to win the judges over?

I can say that although I do not have the prettiest face that can melt everyone’s heart, but I believe that I have the wisdom and words from my kind heart to melt everyone on that night. I can say that my confidence is so high that I was able to show my greatest smile at all times even I was so nervous but my smile has won everyone over.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did you prepare for your competition?

Besides getting on my training on my footwork and posing as well as skincare maintenance, I have prepared my competition by reading all relevant social issues that currently happened not only in my countries but internationally as well for the Q&A section. I believe knowledge and wisdoms are far more important that just showing our beauty to everyone.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for learning better pageant walk?

Always walk confidently, no slouching. Even on daily days, I will always walk like how I walk in pageant and always walk with brightest smile.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for choosing right pageant dress?

I often choose a pageant dress that matches my skin tone color, such as red, navy etc. I always fond of how glamourous pageant dresses are but I always choose the one that can show my prettiest part of my body which is my curve, legs and my back. A pageant dress always helps you in reflecting your personality therefor it is very important that you know what is your advantages and what you want and from there choose the dress that suits you the most.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your tips for winning interview?

Always keep on track of what is happening in our world, always keep updating and let my mind full of knowledge and wisdom. While doing interview, always be confident and make it on point of what you want to say and always with a persuasive and motivation speaking tone to the audience. And also, always having eye contact with the audience as well as our eyes is one of our communicator to the audiences.

World Class Beauty Queens: What is one mistake that you've done during competing you wish you could redo and fix it?

Nothing that I can think of because I won’t regret what I had performed during competition except being nervous and hungry!!!

World Class Beauty Queens: What other mistakes are made by girls during the contest?

I think everyone were doing well and we are like pageant sisters so we are all in this together no matter what are the results by the end of the competition. All I can say is it is very nice to see other beautiful girls on that day and we are still pageant sister until now.

World Class Beauty Queens: Any modeling or acting experience?

I have joined modelling since year 2019 and it is still new for me so I am still learning and hopefully gaining more experiences and building up my portfolio.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2020 as a Queen?

2020 has been a roller coaster for me that everything has been limited since the COVID-19 pandemic. I just hoping everyone are safe and take care of themselves. Hopefully everything will be back to normal and I will be able to go abroad for the upcoming competition.

World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want to let everyone remember that there is an ordinary person in Western Australia, who doesn’t believe in herself in winning but in the end she made it through because she believes that nothing is impossible and by only believe in yourself, you can do it. Miss FACE WA 2020.
